Lesson 5

1. I did an advanced search then I narrowed my results. For me it was easier to use the advance search first. The search came up with articles about the book.

2. I found this very difficult to find. If I was a MS student I would use World Book.

3. 7th grade students would be able to find information for a short research project using several sources. And generate  focused questions or further research.

Hi, Florence, you found what works for you--being more specific from the beginning by using Advanced Search. Good for you! You're right, this resource is meant for HS and up. We know of some MS that use it, but with lots of teacher guidance and help. We recommend that Middle Schoolers use SIRS Issues Researcher. There are articles here that talk about rebuilding libraries after Sandy, libraries used as shelters during Sandy, and libraries receiving relief money following Sandy. It can take time to tweak one's search. Yes, 7th graders could use ProQuest for research (see comments above). What standard would that align with? Thanks for your comments.
